Tingle Voltage
Tingle voltage is a low level electrical current between grounded equipment and the earth. Dairy cattle are very susceptible to tingle voltage as they are 50 times more sensitive to it than humans. Some U.S. and Canadian jurisdictions (eg. Wisconsin, Vermont, and Alberta) have set minimum levels for tingle voltage. The U.S. states have adopted a maximum allowable standard of 0.5 volts. Alberta has adopted 1 volt as its acceptable limit. Ontario has a less formal standard of 10 volts.
