Waste Management
The OFA strongly objects to the use of agricultural land for the disposal (landfill) of municipal solid waste. While it is acknowledged that landfill sites cannot be eliminated altogether, the need to establish new sites or expand existing sites could be greatly reduced through the implementation of an integrated waste management system that incorporates strong reuse and recycling components. For materials that can be neither reused nor recycled, incineration, using state-of-the-art technology is preferred to landfilling. Incineration has the added advantage of having power generating potential.
