Elgin Federation of Agriculture

The OFA represents the voice of Ontario’s farm families. We work with our 52 County Federations across Ontario, all levels of government, commodity and rural groups to meet the needs of our 38,000 members province-wide.

The Elgin Federation of Agriculture is a member based county affiliate of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture (EFA), one of Ontario's general farm organizations. The general purpose of the EFA is to lobby to improve the economic and social well being of farmers in Elgin County, provide members with information on agricultural issues and to increase public awareness of agriculture and the food system.

The Elgin Federation undertakes a variety of activities throughout the year to promote and support agriculture:

We organize a Waste Oil Recycling Day each summer for producers to dispose of used motor oil and the Elgin Farm Adventure Tour every fall which allows for the public to tour and experience agriculture firsthand.

In addition, each February, the EFA hosts a banquet to honour farmers who have made outstanding contributions to the agricultural community.

Finally, the Elgin Federation of Agriculture supports the Buy Local Buy Fresh campaign that includes the pamphlet which lists producers, products and where consumers can locate them. Supporting your local farmer supports your local economy!
